Tianjin Bohai Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd (Bohai Chemical Group) is a state-owned enterprise group in Tianjin, formerly known as Jiu Da Salt Manufacturing Company founded by Mr. Fan Xudong, a patriotic industrialist, in 1914, Yong Li Alkali Factory in 1917 and Yellow Sea Chemical Industry Research Society in 1922, which is known as “the cradle of Chinese alkali industry” and “the birthplace of modern chemical industry”. In the development history of more than 100 years, many advanced achievements have emerged, among which Mr. Hou Debang's “Hou-style alkali method” broke the pattern of Solvay alkali method monopolizing the world's alkali industry for more than 70 years.
Bohua Group has 146 state-owned and state-controlled enterprises, 1442 valid patents, 1 enterprise technology center, 13 municipal enterprise technology centers, 4 scientific research institutes, 1 academician expert workstation, 2 post-doctoral research stations, 22,000 employees with bachelor's degree or above 4,429 people, 1,403 senior professional titles, the State Council special subsidies for 19 experts. The state-owned and state-controlled enterprises have realized business revenue of 55.25 billion yuan and industrial output value above scale of 45.86 billion yuan, ranking 412th among 2021 China's Top 500 Enterprises, 198th among China's Top 500 Manufacturing Enterprises, and 42nd among China's Top 500 Petroleum and Chemical Enterprises. The total assets of the Group amounted to RMB 118.282 billion.
Bohua Group has formed the development pattern of “three linkages” of Lingang, Dagang and Nangang, and “three-chemical combination” of marine chemical industry, petrochemical industry and carbon chemical industry, and “port-chemical integration”. It has built up the core sectors of chlor-alkali chemicals, petrochemicals, coal chemicals, rubber products, fine chemicals and new chemical materials.
